Medina has achieved the Platinum category in the ISO standards for sustainable cities, which is the highest category in this standard.

The city becomes among the top ten cities in the world and the first in the Arab world and Asia in early adoption of this standard.

‫Habitat Outstanding Achievement Award 2009 (HABITAT SCROLL OF HONOUR)

‫اTo honor the regional administration of the Urban Observatory for obtaining the Honor Award for Outstanding Achievement in Habitat for the year 2009, which was presented to representatives of the Observatory at the regional celebration of World Habitat Day in the State of Kuwait. ‫

The Islamic Cities and Capitals Organization Award in the field of regional planning for the Medina Urban Observatory project

‫اFor an award consisting of the organization’s shield and a certificate of appreciation, the award was presented to His Excellency at the opening ceremony of the organization’s eleventh general conference, which was held in the city of Ankara during the period 3-5 Jumada al-Thani 1428 AH, corresponding to June 18, 2007 AD.

The Urban Observatory received the United Nations Development Program Award in the field of project development for the year 2009.

The Urban Observatory of Medina was selected among the thirty best international practices related to developing human and institutional capacities in the field of development for projects supported by the United Nations Development Program in all parts of the world. The program presented these projects, including the Urban Observatory of Medina, at the Morocco Conference in March 2010.
